Welcome to the Penllyn Community Council website

The Community Council locally administers an area in the northern part of the Vale of Glamorgan. The area is located north of Cowbridge and comprises three Community Wards - Penllyn, Llansannor and Ystradowen.

The area contains a number of villages and small communities including:

Penllyn Ward - Penllyn, Craig Penllyn & Pentre Meyrick;
Llansannor Ward – Llansannor & City;
Ystradowen Ward – Ystradowen, Trehyngyll, Pen-y-lan & Newton.

These communities were largely untouched by the industrialisation of the 19th and 20th centuries, instead depending on farming and associated activities. Affluence and demographic changes have recently altered the make up and occupations of many of the residents of the area. Now agriculture is concentrated on a small number of farms with a significant number of residents commuting to jobs in Cardiff and other locations outside the area.

Within the Community Council boundary there is a primary school, three community halls, several local historic parish churches, three public houses and a number of listed buildings including Penllyn Castle.

The Community Council generally meets on the first Monday of each month (no meeting in August) at 7.00pm, at Llansannor Community Hall - CF71 7RW
